Peter's End: Title Page by squonkhunter Peter's End: Title Page by squonkhunter
PAGE ONE: [link]

Ah yes...as if I didn't have enough comics going on right now.

The beginnings of a project for English 414, my creative writing class, taught by David Maine. He's probably my favorite professor, and he encourages the telling of stories through many different mediums, one of his favorites (or at least the one he's most enthusiastic about) is the graphic novel.

New Faro is connected to HMS in an odd way that I can't divulge at the moment.

I had him last year for 313, where I entered "Like Sand," which you can read here, if it so pleases you: [link]

New Faro is a fictional city of mine where a lot of my tales take place. (That is actually James on the cover. We will get to Peter later.)

Done in ink, text in photoshop. I hope to stay as traditional as possible with this project. Whole thing's due Nov. 8th.

Can I do it? 8D

Man, I missed you posting the whole comic! But, it all worked out, it seems, based on your journal.

Weird as always, but whenever you do weird, it feels like, you know, its not strange for no reason. Heh, maybe you don't think so, though.

I um...yeah...that's just how my brain works. I can't write a normal story, because then I get bored. I never know how my comics will end. It's more of I have a script written out for them, but then my hand says, "But I wanna draw THIS!" and starts taking over and then weird things happen. Like, the demon sprouting out of Ecrus's shoulder in "Like Sand" was completely the comic taking over and deviating from the script, and the whole crack in the face and melting of James and Peter was another takeover. I'd planned for Peter to simply start leaking from the fingers, then James started cracking and Peter full on melted. Again, unplanned.

Well, normal stories are typically uninteresting. That's why they're normal.
Some people have talent to take a story, and change it as they go along. I use to think I did, but, nowadays... Nope, I don't. You apparently are able to do that. And more power to ya'. If it makes the story better, go for it!

Thanks very much! I still have trouble writing a freaking ending, though. Always have.

Tons of people do. I mean, a story almost always can keep going. There's just the challenge of figuring out when you've said all you really wanna.

Due Nov. 8th? So, you have about 10 times more time to finish this than you did with Like Sand.

Haha yeah...I planned ahead this time, although it's proving to be far more complicated. Like Sand was just pen and paint bucket in photoshop, whereas these will be individually ink painted, lines added in photoshop. I hope to finish page one by today. It's about halfway through, but I'm also suffering a migraine, so I don't know how far I'll get. :/
Let's make that the goal, though.

Yeah, seeing some of the pages uploaded, it's definitely on a raw technical level much more detailed. More background work, shading... But, hey, you'd know that, you're making it!

Course, I've been taking a long time in responding. I'd say, hope you get better soon, but seeing as it's been 8 days... Doubt I need to say that anymore!

Haha no more migraine! Not today, at least, but thanks. :)

It's taking a lot longer to actually do, because Like Sand obviously didn't have any backgrounds...and that was pen and paint bucket. It's a lot more fun to do the ink painting, but I'm getting them out twice as slowly, whereas I was doing a comic every day for Like Sand.

It's just a presentation we're doing on Nov. 8th, where we're doing a reading from the 414 class and inviting friends and family members and such. I was told to get as much of the comic done as possible, but I'd really like to shoot for finishing it, because it gets really funky at the end. Like um...all my comics.
I need to practice writing happy stuff.

Yeah, and I don't really have any handy dandy little methods to quicken up making pages. Well, besides saying Screw it to quality... which I don't think you want to do...

In my game design class, our first big project was just to make a game demo. I kinda wanted to make an entire game out of it, and not just some little demo... But, well, it kinda got a bit out of hand. In the end, it really was only just a demo. But, because all the time went into making a sound base, I could easily finish it in my spare time later on. Might not quite be the same as finishing it for class, but it'll still get finished eventually.

Neat! Haha um...so I learned today that I'd better finish it and if I don't, it won't get shown at all. Sooooo...I gotta hop to that.
