I Dream of Wires by squonkhunter I Dream of Wires by squonkhunter
Lyrics are from Gary Numan's song of the same name: [link]
Just a quick sketch during screenwriting class. I had written about robots anyway and these lyrics kept pounding through my brain. I had to get them out somehow and decided to color it.
Sketched in ballpoint pen, colored in Photoshop CS5.

I shut sown society to plug off my wife.

Interesting lyrics, great drawing !
You drawn her over a bed sheet aiming to show the useless of some things and the visual power over us or am I looking for it for so much time that started to have hallucinations? xD

Ah, you mean why would robots use bedsheets? I put them in bedsheets (though they would be useless to a robot) to symbolize that they are not robots, they are people.

Yes, bedsheets :D
And, hey! I was sure that they were robots with all that thing of plug in and plug off ^^

But it still has sense. I'll check this music out ;D

Yeah, they're robots, but I mean symbolically they count as humans. ;)
And yes, Gary Numan rocks!

Interesting. This reminds me of the films I, Robot [link] and The Bicentennial Man [link] , both of which I've only seen parts of, but I liked the designs of the robots in them. Oddly enough, both films are apparently based on stories written by Isaac Asimov .___. What are the chances?

For me, Asimov is too stiff for a song by Numan. His music reminds me more of works by Philip K. Dick and, my personal favourite, Theodore Sturgeon.
Have you seen Blade Runner or read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I haven't seen the film, to be honest, but I've read the story and that's what this makes me think of.
Being both robot and human at the same time. You could be a robot without even knowing, carrying fake memories.
Yeah. This pretty much pictures how I think of the earlier versions of the androids.

I have not heard any of those artists' work, sorry...at least not that I'm aware of.
I saw most of Blade Runner not that long ago and I don't know if I liked it. It left me very confused and I honestly thought it was pretty boring. The concept is cool, but I didn't like the execution (as is the case for a lot of movies or TV shows I've seen).

Philip K. Dick wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep that they based Blade Runner on. I've avoided the film because it sure sounds like it's been executed really badly. o_O I loved the book though, until they killed a goat. As far as I can tell the film both excluded my favourite character and butchered the android-or-human subplot the same way I Am Legend butchered the whole meaning behind the story.
I'd definitely recommend reading it. But then again, I still haven't seen the film. Only heard or read about it. ^^'
Theodore Sturgeon isn't as well-known as he should be though, which is a shame, but I guess his most famous work is More Than Human. If you ask me, he's the best. x) Great characters, interesting plots, really capturing.

Wow, the best doodle I ever did in class was figuring out how to draw a bunny with only 3's.
